The LA28 handover celebration took place on August 11, 2024, during the finale of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games Closing Ceremony. Tom Cruise lands on LA and the show starts on the beach with Billie Eilish, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Snoop Dogg.

The performance was recorded in secrecy just hours before the end of the Paris ceremony. During an intense crunch, we delivered invisible and beauty visual effects for around a dozen shots in record time. I coordinated artists remotely across seven time zones, transferred 500 GB of data within a few hours, and supported a team of 18 visual-effects artists who had only 90 minutes to complete the work.

It was an honor to be part of this.

As a freelancer for Accenture Song VFX, I worked from July 2022 to February 2024 on 246 shots: 209 anamorphic matchmove shots, 33 roto shots, and four compositing shots. In total this represented around 1400 hours of work.

We completed more than 150 VFX compositing shots for the film. The work was split between the live-action sequences and the CG-toy sequences.

In the live-action work, we removed modern elements from sets, including security cameras, satellite dishes, and electrical wires. We also created winterisation and added snow to dressed sets.

For the CG work, the toys come to life. This involved preparing live-action plates for the CG toys through cleanup, compositing the multi-pass CG renders, fixing 3D-render issues and eye details, and integrating CG with the live-action footage.
